People always ask me what fit of jeans I get, or whether I buy “slim” or “skinny.” All of that is completely irrelevant. There are only a few things to keep in mind when buying jeans if you want them to fit like mine do.
1. The only thing that needs to fit on your jeans is the waist and the seat. You can’t really alter those, so make sure they fit exactly how you want them to. I always get mine pretty snug, but with a bit of room. Also, speaking of the waist, avoid low waisted jeans, they may make you look a little bit taller but at the expense of making your legs look like sausages. This doesn’t mean you need grampa jeans, but wearing them just a bit higher on your waist does wonders for your figure.
2. Get them tapered. Literally ANY dry cleaners will do this for like $15. If you want better service, go to an actual tailor, and even then it won’t be much more. I get mine tapered to about 6.75 at the ankle.
3. Get the jeans tapered from the calf to the ankle. Otherwise, if you roll them up, they flare out a bit (due to your ankle being thinner than your knee) and end up looking wider than the calf area, which really bugs me.
That’s really all there is to it, you can go out and buy a $20 pair of jeans from Target and get them to fit super well. Obviously, if you’re going to all this trouble, you should probably opt for a well made pair. And of course, this is just the way I like my jeans to fit, you may like them differently, but since a lot of people have been asking, I might as well let you know.
what are you wearing this summer?
